Join 11th Annual Tour de Mount Vernon

Begin and end at Workhouse Arts Center

Before we hit the road, we’ll kick things off with a costume contest; choose 40-mile or 20-mile route.

Grab your bike and join me and the Fairfax Alliance for Better Bicycling (FABB) for the 11th Annual Tour de Mount Vernon Community Bike Ride on Saturday, October 31, HALLOWEEN! This year, we’re starting and ending at the Workhouse Arts Center for a scenic ride through the southern and central part of the Mount Vernon District.

Before we hit the road, we’ll kick things off with a costume contest, so come ready to show off your creativity. Then, choose between our 40-mile or 20-mile routes and explore some of the beautiful roads, parks, historic sites and neighborhoods that make the Mount Vernon District such a special place to live, work, play and visit.

Here’s what you need to know:

* The ride kicks off at 8:30 a.m., check-in will begin at 7:45 a.m.

* Riders will explore Lorton and Mason Neck, featuring Potomac Banks’ historical, ecological and cultural sites. Including Mason Neck State Park, Gunston Hall, Pohick Bay Regional Park, the National Museum of the U.S. Army, the Gerry Connelly Cross County Trail and more.

* Come in costume! We’ll hold a Halloween costume contest before the ride starts, with prizes for the top three costumes, courtesy of Bunnyman Brewing, the Workhouse Arts Center and the Park Authority.

Fairfax County Police and ride monitors will be on hand to help riders stay safe and on route. After the ride, you’ll return to the Workhouse to celebrate with fellow cyclists, grab your limited edition Halloween tie-dye socks, enjoy music and camaraderie and refuel with La Prima Catering’s famous sweet potato chili and beverages for purchase from Bunnyman Brewing.

Whether you’re a longtime cyclist or looking for a fun way to spend Halloween morning, the Tour de Mount Vernon is a great way to see our community from a different perspective. Grab your helmet, fill up your water bottle, put together your best costume and join us for another great ride through Mount Vernon District.
