At Brooke Point's Dance Invitational in Stafford, Va., on Jan. 25, the Carl Sandburg Middle School Dance Team competed in the middle school category against local dance teams from Fairfax County and Prince Wiliam County. The Carl Sandburg Dance Team won the Grand Champion title for receiving the highest score out of all middle school routines. Additionally, the team won first place trophies in the following categories: Captains, Jazz, Pom and Hip Hop. Eighth grader Charlotte Anderson won 5th place for her Jazz solo.
