Mount Vernon Boys’ Soccer Falls to W-L

The Mount Vernon boys’ soccer team lost to undefeated Washington-Lee 6-1 on May 4.

The Majors surrendered three goals during a 4-minute stretch in the first half before junior midfielder Peter Diawuo scored Mount Vernon’s lone goal in the 32nd minute.

The loss dropped Mount Vernon’s record to 5-3-3.

The Majors will close the regular season with home matches against Stuart (May 7) and Hayfield (May 11).

Mount Vernon Softball Beats Lee

The Mount Vernon softball team defeated Lee 6-5 on May 1 at Mount Vernon High School.

The victory improved the Majors’ record to 12-3 and extended their win streak to 12 games.

Mount Vernon was scheduled to face Marshall at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, after The Gazette’s deadline. The Majors will travel to face Stuart at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 8.

Mount Vernon Boys’ Lax Win Streak Snapped

The Mount Vernon boys’ lacrosse team lost to Washington-Lee 10-4 on May 1, snapping the Majors’ four-game win streak.

The loss dropped Mount Vernon’s record to 7-2.

The Majors faced Yorktown on Wednesday, after The Gazette’s deadline. Mount Vernon will host Falls Church at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, May 8.

West Potomac Softball Wins Third Straight

The West Potomac softball team defeated T.C. Williams 15-3 on May 1, giving the Wolverines a three-game win streak and improving their record to 12-5.

West Potomac will host South County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8.
